Ford and chevy sheet metal vs. japanese cars?

ok i test drove an 2008 mustang today and i have to admit i think that american cars feel more solid. The salesman told me that ford uses more sheet metal or whatever thats why it feels solid. Im just wondering, does Chevy do this too? And how come japanese cars build theres lighter? are there any japanese cars out there that feel soild like ford? i think im gonna switch to american made, just for the solid feelFord and chevy sheet metal vs. japanese cars?
Chevy is my fav, my work truck just hit 233559 last night.. and our other ford is over 200000 as well, purrr like kittens.. i am a chevy guy as well, but USA built is USA built... Maintenance is the key. most cars are a combination of fiberglass and metal, they have been like that for years. Suspension will also make for a solid feeling while driving.Ford and chevy sheet metal vs. japanese cars?
truth -

so, which is better? the Ford designed by americans and built by mexicans, or the Honda designed by asians and built by americans?

the reason american cars ';feel'; more solid is because they are made out of heavier parts...to make them ';feel'; better.

this better 'feeling' results in lower fuel mileage, and honestly does not help the resale or build quality of the cars, as is obvious by their rankings on JD powers and consumer reports lists...

Thank you. Good for you. I drive a Chrysler 300C and that is a great car. The US cars are really good now, and the Japanese cars are made like tin cans. Do you know there is no such car as Lexus? Nope. Toyota that is toe yo tah, just slapped that name on various models such as Aristo and a few others. When you buy a Lexus you are buying a glorified Toyopet. That is the original name for Toyota cars and were originally built on truck chassis. Stick with the US cars and you will not go wrong and at the same time you are helping our economy. If one buys a Japanese car, that car is dumped in the US; the same car cost at least 30% or more in Japan.
If you want a nice solid car, get yourself a Ford, GM, or Chrysler. I'm a Ford guy, but I wouldn't have a problem driving a GM, or a Chrysler.

And congratulations on switching to American made cars. They're built to last, and to withstand the conditions in this country.

And don't listen to what the honda enthusiasts say, they're just jealous.
I think American cars are really built to last and much stronger and ';solid'; compared to japan cars, that's true and that's why they costs too much. Japanese cars have simple specs and features that's why you need to add parts you can see from carpartswholesale.com to make it more effective and good.
American cars for the win! Especially Chevy, Dodge, and Ford. My 4 favorite cars: 2009 Dodge Challenger, 2009 Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Solstice, and a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette.
American cars have the solid feel but hinders the cornering abilities. Japanese cars feel light to keep the power to weight ratio balanced. Japanese cars are can definitely corner better and faster than American cars by far.
Japanese cars are lighter so they can handle better, go faster, accelerate quicker, and get better gas mileage.

But they are just as safe.
