What is the gauge number of sheet metal?

Gauge of sheet metal refers to the thickness of the metal. the larger the no. the smaller thinner the thickness. sheet metal comes in many different sizes. 26 GA. is about the smallest Ga. that is used. ';light residential'; , 16 Ga. for heavy commercial, 8 Ga. for industrial. Than we have aluminum, It is measured in decimal points. The smaller the no. the thicker the sheets. Stainless steal is the just like aluminum.
