How can I get a hold of some sheet metal without spending a lot of money?

I want to give a strong magnetic background to a 7X12 foot section of one of the walls in my classroom. If you have any ideas besides sheet metal, I would be happy to hear those too. Thanks much! How can I get a hold of some sheet metal without spending a lot of money?
I'd suggest a scrapyard, too. However, there is one alternative. There is, believe it or not, magnetic paint. Comes in a can, and you brush it on, and a good strong magnet will stick to the wall upon which you've painted it. It's marketed for kids' rooms. As you might imagine, the stuff is not cheap, and the magnets don't stick nearly as securely as they would to a lousy piece of sheet steel.

If your school's people have friends that do heating ductwork, their scrap is usually a good source of galvanized sheet, but in general it's a good idea to make friends with a local scrap yard. The places look ferocious, but they're almost always friendly and will help you solve your problem. And a trip to a scrapyard is an amazing experience anyway; everyone should do it.How can I get a hold of some sheet metal without spending a lot of money?
Remember that the metal, if you go that way, needs to be magetizable: not all metals are.
for the sheetmetal i suggest contacting your local scrape yard sometimes they get in large quanties and you could find what you need at a discounted price.
scrap metal yard, you never know what you will find there, or get a roll of flashing tin, like they make ducting and stuff out of, it shouldnt be expensive.
