14.5 B$S 287707-1255-E1 Blown counterbal weight, What is the chewed up black spring steel stamped sheet metal?

Flywheel side counter bal ring went south. Also found chewwed up black spring steel parts inside. Part appears to be shim stock, or a formed stamping at one time. It is in many pieces. I cannot find info from B%26amp;S on this part. It is not the breather reed either. Any ideas?14.5 B$S 287707-1255-E1 Blown counterbal weight, What is the chewed up black spring steel stamped sheet metal?
More info needed on what this is, rather vague description.

I believe that you are talking about a lawn mower engine

To me it sounds like the recoil on the pull line starter. Pull cage off and replace it. OR it might be if an interior part it may be a rod bearing or expansion washer

if my guess is correct in your description
