Can a 1965 Mustang that has a vinyl top be converted to a hardtop without much sheet metal work?

This is the sixth time you asked this question.

What kind of answer are you looking for?

NO sheet metal work is needed. You only need to fill the holes where the chrome trim was covering the end of the vinyl.

Strip, clean, fill holes with body putty, prime paint, put window chrome back on.Can a 1965 Mustang that has a vinyl top be converted to a hardtop without much sheet metal work?
like the man said tear off vynl trim sand glue if any fill in holes paint if needed put trim bk on!!!

if the top is sealed good chance are paint is good under top.

but if ya doing this to make it look like a 2door anyone who knows difference between 2door and 2door hardtop will know!

i have a 69 amc rebel 2door hardtop i thought about this very thing but time it take to make it look like regular top wouldnt be worth the time when a new top is 150 bux or so and a easy put on! not to mention most dont know the difference but ill tell ya, it the post behind the door and door itself.

a 2door has metal arround window in door and post behind doors hard top with windows down is a big whole lol dukes of hazard special. spend the money for top and put it on man it look brand new and just as nice as 2door!Can a 1965 Mustang that has a vinyl top be converted to a hardtop without much sheet metal work?
Oh No that will be such a hard project you better sell mer that car for a couple bucks and rid yourself of the agony.HAHAH JOKE!!!

N o from my experiance the vinyl is just glued and that itself is a small mess but it will come off with the right solvent . Then of course you should be ready to prep prime and paint before the metal gets rusty
yes u can.u can peel off the vinyl top and sand off glue and maybe alittle rust then use fiberglass in a can to fill in and fix inperfections, sand and smooth, prime and paint. took a vinyl top off a pontiac catilina 1972,and it turned out great.
if it is just a factory top the hardest part is usually getting the glue off then minor repair where rivets were
If you have a classic ';65'; Mustang why on earth would want to alter it like that and lower its resale value like that.
No. The work is extensive.
