Can I safely fix my barbeque grill with galvanized sheet metal without having to worry about toxins?

I have a Char Broil barbeque propane grill that has a piece of metal sheet between the burner and the grill and helps distribute the heat better. The sheet metal has rusted out and needs to be replaced.

My question; is it safe to replace this piece of sheet metal with a piece of galvanized sheet metal (which is normally used for roof flashing)? My concern is that the galvanized sheet metal may release some toxins when subjected to high temperatures and release toxins to the food?Can I safely fix my barbeque grill with galvanized sheet metal without having to worry about toxins?
Propane burns at 1977 掳C, and the melting point of the zinc that is probably your galvanizing agent is only 419.53 掳C. It's not safe to use zinc galvanized steel in this application. Plain sheet steel should be fine.Can I safely fix my barbeque grill with galvanized sheet metal without having to worry about toxins?
you would do ';much'; better if you used Porcillan - one of its properties is the ability to '; Hold Heat.';
Galvanized gives of poisonus gas when heated. use stainless steel parts
Yes it will release toxins as it burns off. You are better to replace it with steel the same gauge as what is there.

At the same time buy a cover for the BBQ
Galvanizing is done with zinc, an important nutrient, not a toxic hazard, but it is not made for what you propose and will probably not last, get the needed part.
If you will got to Wal*Mart and get you an aluminum pan, then go to the garden center there, they have something like a cookie sheet you can put in there that will hold the coals. Its a flat wire thing that goes in there.
Look at it this way, If you won't eat off if it , Then why cook with it. Much Like Wine. I you dont drink it then dont cook with it.
why do that just buy a replacement part for it . do not use sheet metal or galvanized sheet metal for it it is not design or made for the propane gril you have
