Can you paint acrylics on sheet metal?

I am looking to do a painting with mixed media ON sheet metal, probably aluminum, and I was just wondering if I can use acrylics because they're my favorite media to use.Can you paint acrylics on sheet metal?
Yes you can. You need to prime the aluminum with a metal primer first. And wipe it down with alcohol before you prime.

If you find that that the primer is not 'grabbing' (if it scrapes off when dry if you scratch it) you'll need to lightly sand or buff the surface to give it 'tooth' (use a 400 grit paper or steel wool) wipe it down with alcohol after.

Once primed your acrylics should go on with no problem. Once they ARE on you'll want to seal them.

And be careful where you have this work displayed. Acrylics have very little tolerance for temperture changes...and being on metal if it gets too hot or freezes and thaws alot your paint may crack despite your surface preperation.

good luckCan you paint acrylics on sheet metal?
It might depend on the brand of paint or type of metal. Materials like canvas and wood are often chosen for texture, absorbency and relative permanence, so do look into all the qualities you want your work to have, and what your chosen materials provide. I would sample all the materials, then try to rub off or scrape or just leave (for a while) the paint, then make a final decision. Good luck!
Acrylics would probably peel from the metal. IMHO.
