for example box, light, fixture sfgIs it ok to use a sheet metal screw to connect a grounding conductor to enclosure.?
that should be fine as long as it is grounded to something.RegardsIs it ok to use a sheet metal screw to connect a grounding conductor to enclosure.?
NEC prohibits self-tapping type screws for grounding. It must either be into a threaded hole or use a nut behind it.
You could always just buy a grounding screw. They're usually green or blue.
It use to be, but not anymore, too many screws loosend. You should use the ground screw on the unit you are grounding. Unless its a older piece of equipment in which case I would a machine screw and a nut to attach a small lug to the metal. Be sure to scrape the paint away were the lug will touch so as to get a good connection. I no this sounds like over kill, but its a safety issue and must be done properly

hope this helps
