look in your phone book under sheet metal contractors.alot of cities have rather large s/m shops that carry a large variety of different types of metal and iron.they also have the knowledge as to what type of metal or iron you want to use.the also have the capabilities to cut it to the size you need
Are you looking for sheet metal OR cast iron, they are different.





Any fabricators will sell you a piece of sheet. If you want Cast Iron you will need to commission a foundry - they are not as rare as you would think - yellow pages.

You would be well advised to take advice from the relevant tradesmen regarding this, chimneys and hearths have to be commissioned by a corgi (if gas) engineer.
if your bright enough to put this question in...then why not put into your home page something like ...cast iron fire backs do not try to use anything else but cast iron as it will not stand the test of time
look in your localpaper for reclaiming yards the ones that knock down old houses and reclaim all they can from the process,scrap yards may well have what you want.i've got some stuff from them over the years
